I write about the part of an online casino that only becomes interesting once you want your money back.
My focus is withdrawal timing and the arithmetic hidden inside bonus terms. Those two things account for 48% of the SpinCompass score between them, which is a fair reflection of how much they decide a player's actual experience. Everything else about an operator can be pleasant, and none of it matters if a payout sits unexplained for a fortnight.
I wrote the SpinCompass scoring formula and the testing protocol it runs on, and I sign the ratings produced by it. When a score is wrong, it is mine to correct.
How I got here
By reading terms and conditions, mostly. Several years of it. Promotional pages are written to be skimmed, and the clauses that determine whether a bonus can ever be converted are almost always somewhere else: a maximum bet rule buried in a general terms document, a contribution table that quietly excludes the games people actually play, a maximum win cap expressed as a multiple that nobody converts into dollars for you.
Once you have read enough of them, patterns appear. The same clauses travel between operators, usually because the same platform sits underneath. Whether a site has one particular reversal clause tells you more about how a withdrawal will go than any review star ever will.
I do not hold industry certifications and do not claim to be a lawyer or a regulatory adviser. What I have is time spent with the documents and with the cashier pages, and a protocol that produces the same result whoever runs it.
How I test
As an ordinary customer. Account opened without telling the operator who I am, deposit funded by the publication, normal play, then three withdrawal requests of different sizes with the clock running on each. Support gets asked questions that have a checkable answer, and I record what comes back word for word.
The second cycle runs the same route with the welcome bonus claimed, because a bonus changes what the withdrawal rules permit and the difference is often the whole story.

Where I stand
I hold no financial interest in any operator covered on this site, and I do not accept gifts, hospitality, or bonus credit from operators or affiliate programmes. SpinCompass earns commission from some outbound links, which is disclosed on every page carrying one, and that commission has no route into a score.
I also do not think there is a clever way to play these games profitably. The edge is built in, it does not tire, and it does not care about a losing streak. The only decisions worth optimising are which operator holds your money and how quickly it gives it back.
